In the late evening hours of May 25th York City firefighters were still on the scene of an entrapment accident on East Market Street when they were alerted for an unknown fire outside in the 100 block of West Jackson Street.
Upon responding Engine 2 was advised that the box was being upgraded to a structure assignment and the incident was to be a garage fire.
Additional units were freed from the entrapment call to respond.
The fire vas visible for some distance with a large column and orange glow in the sky.
Engine 2 arrived and reported a fully involved 2 story garage fire.
The RIT assignement was then added bringing West York and Manchester Twp. firefighters to the scene as well.
Command was established by LT. 1 (Deardorf). He resquested an additional engine for a brand patrol in the area as the fire was putting out a lot of large brands in the direction on several near by streets.
Firefighters also placed the aerial in service to inspect adjacent roofs for an potential fires from the embers.
